The Horned One 18in x 24in
Cycle- series
The pieces represent the cycle of humans in the world. In Wicca, everything revolves in cycles. For this work, I focused on the cycled of life and death. The circles on all of the pieces represent an infinite cycle.
This piece with the horns represents the Horned One. This is a God who represents sexuality and the life cycle. He is also a representation of male or masculine energy. In the illustration he appears strong and yet he is gently cradling a golden fetus. This piece is both the end and the beginning of the cycle representing reincarnation and rebirth. There is no set look for any gods/ goddesses in Wicca; however, they do have common characteristics that help to identify them. The Horned One is usually depicted with two horns and sometimes the head of an animal. The horns are incorporated into this piece and the tops of his ears are cupped and pointed resembling those of an animal.
The Green Man 18in x 24in
This piece represents the Green Man. The Green Man has to do with everything involved in nature such as plants, seasons, crops, etc. In this series, he represents the cycle of life and death and how humans interact with nature and depend on it to survive. This represents the physical world that humans live in while the Horned God represents the physical and spiritual world. The green man is usually depicted by either being surrounded by vegetation or made out of vegetation.
Spirit Eye 12in x 26in
This illustration represents the viewer. This piece was placed in between the two others. It represents the physical and spiritual cycle of humans. The eye represents an opening of the mind to these cycles throughout life.
